Il existe plusieurs possibilités pour réaliser un site web et confier au jour le jour ses impressions de voyages et ses photos.
On peut tout d'abord le réaliser à la main, en utilisant un logiciel générant des pages HTML que l'on publie sur le web. Cette solution, à priori pas trop compliquée, nécessite pourtant pas mal de travail si l'on désire atteindre un bon résultat. Il devient en effet indispensable de définir des templates pour réaliser l'unité de présentation du site et il faut prendre en charge la navigation entre les pages.
Encore une fois, il est peu probable que vous disposiez de ce genre de logiciel dans les cybercafés si vous gérez votre site à distance. Cette solution est à réserver à une personne gérant le site alors que vous êtes en voyage ou bien à ceux disposant d'un ordinateur portable. Mais même dans ce dernier cas, vous ne disposerez pas d'un logiciel de transfert de fichiers (FTP) performant sur l'ordinateur du cybercafé. Personnellement je n'encourage pas trop cette solution qui demande à mon sens pas mal de travail alors que les logiciels de blogs gèrent très facilement le classement de vos articles et la navigation entre eux. A réserver donc aux personnes qui désirent une présentation particulièrement originale de leur site et qui disposent de très bonnes connaissances en matière de page web.
On peut ensuite utiliser un logiciel générant le site web et dédié à l'écriture de journal sur le web (les fameux blogs). Il en existe d'excellent comme Movable Type. Ces logiciels ont l'avantage de proposer une interface simple d'utilisation, accessible depuis Internet, pour rajouter de nouveaux articles pour chaque journée. Ils regénèrent automatiquement le site web, en classant automatiquement les articles par journées, mois et catégories. Mais ne nous leurrons pas. Il est nécessaire d'effectuer un gros travail de préparation pour réaliser une jolie présentation du site. Il est pour cela indispensable de s'y connaître un minimum en HTML et en CSS (feuille de style) pour obtenir un résultat correct. Il n'est pas nécessaire d'être informaticien pour cela mais il faut avoir l'envie de se plonger dans les arcanes du HTML et du CSS, qui, reconnaissons le, vous réserveront quelques jolies surprises... 
Enfin pour ceux qui maîtrisent les langages informatiques, il est tout à fait possible de jouer avec des extensions du logiciel permettant de gérer dynamiquement les pages. De même, l'utilisation des langages JavaScript ou PHP est tout à fait possible. Une fois la présentation du site mise en place, la gestion du site se fera extrêmement facilement, puisque l'on rajoute les articles au travers du logiciel qui se chargera tout seul de regénérer le site automatiquement. Le seul inconvénient de ce genre de logiciel est qu'il impose une certaine standardisation dans la façon d'élaborer son site (page d'accueil, d'entrées, d'archives, etc...). Mais une présentation judicieuse devrait vous permettre de conférer à votre site, toute l'originalité souhaitée.
Si vous n'avez pas les connaissances pour, il est tout à fait possible de demander à un ami de mettre en place le logiciel de blog ainsi que la présentation du site avant votre départ et ensuite de mettre vous-même à jour les articles de votre site. Pour encore plus de simplicité, il est également possible de lui envoyer vos photos et vos articles par mail et de lui demander très gentiment de mettre à jour votre site. C'est la solution que nous avons retenue ici. 
Enfin pour ceux que l'informatique rebute complètement, il est possible d'utiliser des services payants disponibles sur le web, qui pour une somme peu élevée, vous permettent de gérer un blog et vous propose de mettre en œuvre des modèles de présentation prédéfinis sans que vous ayez besoin de connaissance particulière en HTML ou CSS. L'idéal pour tout ceux qui n'ont pas beaucoup de temps à consacrer à l'élaboration de leur site, ne veulent pas avoir à manipuler du HTML et du CSS, ou qui, en matière de présentation, privilégie la simplicité à une richesse un peu trop matinée de complexité.
Cette solution est l'idéal pour quelqu'un voulant s'embarrasser le moins possible de problème informatique et qui désire mettre à jour seul son site pendant son voyage.
Si vous réalisez votre site au moyen d'un générateur de page web ou de blog, il vous faudra trouver un hébergeur pour votre site web. Deux solutions s'offrent à vous.
Vous pouvez utiliser les services de votre fournisseur d'accès internet (FAI) ou bien louer les services d'un hébergeur spécialisé.
Plusieurs paramètres devraient guider votre choix. Première chose, la capacité de stockage qu'il vous offre. Car un site, ça prend de la place. Pour indication, ce site occupe environ 500 Mo pour un an de voyage. Et oui, plus de 1000 photos stockées en plusieurs tailles, ça occupe une certaine place... Faîtes donc votre calcul par rapport à la taille et au nombre moyen de photos que vous comptez prendre.
Deuxième chose, la bande passante, ou plus simplement, la quantité de données que vous serez habilité à offrir chaque mois aux Internautes. A moins que votre site ne devienne une référence en matière de voyage (c'est tout le mal que je vous souhaite), il est peu probable, que ce paramètre soit un facteur limitant.
Troisième chose, la disponibilité de votre site. S'orienter vers une solution professionnelle vous assurera probablement un meilleur temps de réponse dans le chargement des pages web de votre site et une accessibilité constante.
Quatrième chose, les services offerts en matière de base de données. Un logiciel comme Movable Type en nécessite une par exemple.
Dernière chose (et pas forcément la moindre), le prix de votre hébergement. Cela peut être gratuit s'il est par exemple fourni par votre FAI ou bien payant si vous vous adressez à une société spécialisée. Personnellement j'ai opté pour les services de TopClassHost qui me paraissait un très bon compromis en terme de prix/service offerts. Pour information, le tarif d'hébergement est de $6 par mois.
Dernière remarque, ne commettez pas l'erreur de laisser votre hébergeur vous offrir gratuitement le nom de domaine de votre site web. Si par la suite vous décidez de changer d'hébergeur, le nom de votre domaine ne vous appartenant pas, il vous faudra choisir une nouvelle adresse pour votre site. Alors achetez vous-même votre nom de domaine. Cela ne revient pas si cher que ça et vous serez indépendant de votre hébergeur.
